Tips, tricks and all the necessary boring stuff.

  • Wick care.

Wooden wicks can be the most finicky of wicks. While the ambiance they create are well worth their difficulties, knowing how to care for them is important in order to keep that ambiance for the life of your candle.

Always trim your wick before each use, removing all charred wood from previous burns. if you don’t, the wick may not stay lit long enough to fuel the flame, causing it to extinguish itself. I recommend using a wick trimmer to remove the charred top.

Make sure to allow the wax to melt across the entire diameter of your candle on the first burn. This is called your melt pool and ensuring you get a full melt pool will help prevent tunneling, which can impact how well the candle will continue to burn. This is especially true with soy candles, which is all SageFire uses to craft candles.

These two simple tips will help your candle burn clean and for the entire life of your wooden wick candle.

  • Boho products.

All of my beauty products are handcrafted from scratch by me in small batches using only top quality ingredients.

All of my products are vegan and paraben & phthalate free. I strive for a naturalistic approach to beauty care. I do use emulsifiers and steric acids in most of my lotions, creams and butters, though when selecting these I have carefully researched each one and have opted for the most natural and wholesome versions of each ingredient. I also endeavor to keep the majority of my products tree-nut free. I am fazing out shea butter (which is considered a tree nut) and never use almond oil, brazil nut oil, cashew oil, hazelnut oil, pecan oil, walnut oil or argon oil in any of my products. I only have shea butter still in my Hand Lotion at this time with the intention of being shea free by June 2024. I also keep my coconut oil content on the low side, as many people have a sensitivity to coconut. Coconut oil has many benefits, but I prefer to keep the percentage low to accommodate as many of my customers as possible.

And last, but not least - Boho Beauty is palm free. We do not chose to use even use RSPO ‘sustainably sourced’ palm oil, in an effort to support the reduction of deforestation and carbon emissions.

Please review the ingredient list for each product carefully to ensure you do not have an allergy or sensitivity to any of the ingredients I use.

  • Mango me crazy.

Mango butter has some really great properties and I use it in the majority of my beauty products. Mango butter is full of Vitamin E, vitamin C and fatty acids, all of which help create a beautiful formula for your skin.

I love the way mango butter incorporates in beauty products, its firmness adds texture, but it is so pliant and adaptable, creating a well rounded top ingredient. It’s less greasy than shea butter and also doesn’t get the grittiness that shea can leave behind.

Other butters and oils that I use in products include kokum butter, babassu oil, avocado oil, sunflower oils, safflower oil, hemp oil, coconut oil, olive oil, moringa oil, castor oil, rosehip oil, jojoba oil & coco butter.

But… I’m always experimenting and concocting new things, so don’t be surprised if that list doesn’t grow over time. Part of the fun is trying new things and seeing what wonders they can provide to your skin.
